Good article. Our glorious leaders are getting very excited about the superfast spanner they have just invested in while somehow missing that a spanner on its own does nothing. It needs mechanics, and a business employing them, to have any lucrative effect - otherwise it's just a pointless expenditure.

Having said that, why would digital businesses actually physically come to Jersey? Cyberspace is non-geographical and Timbuktu is as close as St Saviour. I can see that digital traffic could be routed through Jersey but any tax revenue would not accrue to our local Treasury because the origin of such corporate traffic would be "offshore" Jersey thus no taxable here.

Maybe it would have been better to use this money to delay further increases in the water rates! Or if it has to go to charity, then they should be directing it towards projects that are strictly WATER or ENVIRONMENT-RELATED, such as new initiatives to help people save water (but I don't mean installing more water meters), or to make the island's water supply cleaner, or towards research into our underground water resources, or similar. I suppose that one could argue that it is hardly in Jersey Water's best interests to promote saving water- at least in the homes which already have water meters supplied. It would result in a loss of income.

This is a good example of philanthropy. People should be more sensitive to the needs of society. Donating medical equipment that is no longer used is way better than just throwing them. Although some may be outdated or top of the line, there are still other people who can really benefit from the equipment.

Regarding the wheelie bins. There is a large glass recycling bin at the entrance of Green Street cemetery. There is potentially room for 2 more large bins against the same wall, and it is convenient as it is near both residential and office buildings and the car park, and off the road/pavement too.

A States (i.e taxpayer) funded enterprise to support and expand Jersey Business.
It is a pity they did no support Jersey business by using a local HR firm - many of which could do with the business. They have given the recruitment role to a company based in Hanover Square. Obviously recruitment specialists in Jersey are second division.
