Transport and Technical Services (TTS) will be conducting urgent lighting repairs on La Route du Fort starting this Sunday and on subsequent Sundays. Stop/Go boards will be in use to control traffic around the works
The condition of street lights along La Route du Fort has deteriorated rapidly in the recent wet weather, to the point where repairs cannot be delayed any further if the risk to road users is to be avoided. Due to the unplanned road closure on Mount Bingham last Autumn and now the part-time road closure on Greve d’Azette, the Department had hoped to delay the programmed refurbishment of the lighting, until after Easter.
However, a failure of one of the lighting support brackets earlier in the week and the poor condition of many others has left no option other than to begin repairs immediately. Therefore, commencing Sunday, and on subsequent Sundays “Stop / Go” boards will be used to control traffic around the repair equipment and vehicles.
TTS is restricting the work to Sundays, to minimise disruption to road users. However, the public is advised that some additional delays on an already very busy road should be expected. However this work is urgent and unavoidable for safety reasons.
