Transport and Technical Services (TTS) will be replacing the traffic light equipment on Victoria Avenue at its junction with La Rue du Galet, commencing Monday 24 February (half term). This project, which was postponed from last August due to rain and wind, will take approximately three days, depending on the weather conditions.
In order to carry out the work safely, turning movements at the junction will be restricted. The following traffic restrictions will be in place:
- There will be no access to Victoria Avenue from La Rue du Galet after 9am on Monday 24 February, until the work is complete
- Only traffic coming along the eastbound carriageway of Victoria Avenue can turn into La Rue du Galet
- There will be no right turn from the westbound carriageway of Victoria Avenue into La Rue du Galet
The traffic lights are 15 years old and on this coastal location have suffered the effects of sea, wind and sun. They will therefore be replaced with new equipment, which will be more durable and will also use much less electricity.
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. To assist pedestrians, TTS has arranged for temporary signalled crossings to be used for crossing Victoria Avenue.
The work has been timed to take place at half term in order to avoid the high volume of peak hour traffic that occurs during school days.
TTS would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may arise from this essential maintenance work.
