Total amount raised by the Itex-Rotary Around the Island Walk 2012 charity total is….

Youngest Walker of 2012, Thomas Beaugie – aged 9

The grand total raised by this year’s Itex-Rotary Trust walk is £101,871.20

Around 100 people attended last night’s presentation evening when the total sum was revealed. Walkers, charities, volunteers, Rotary de la Manche members and Itex staff packed out the Royal Yacht’s Celestial Hall to see the charity representatives presented with cheques from the funds.

The main local charities supported this year, the 10th Jersey (St Brelade) Scout Group, Jersey Cheshire Home and Jersey Trees for Life, each received approximately £18,500. Rotary de la Manche also received a similar amount to be distributed to many other worthy causes. In addition another 11 local organisations benefited from smaller donations ranging from £1,000 to £3,285.

Aurum of Jersey once again kindly donated silver pins to be awarded to the youngest and oldest Walkers and the Walker that raises the most money. The winners were:

  • Youngest Walker – Thomas Beaugie – aged 9
  • Oldest Walker – John Searson – aged 79
  • Most money raised – Andrew Dickson, who raised £1,171

The presentation of the awards was made by the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John McColl.
