Organisers of the 2013 Guernsey and Jersey Customer Service Awards have announced the dates for this year’s events and reveal a new title sponsor for the Guernsey event – leading Guernsey estate agents Livingroom.

Livingroom director Simon Torode, sponsor of the Livingroom Customer Service Awards 2013, explains why he was keen to get the organisation involved with the event:

“We’re delighted to sponsor the Guernsey Customer Service Awards. Customer service is at the core of everything we do so it was a natural fit to support these awards, which recognise businesses and individuals who go that extra mile for their customers. We’re excited and looking forward to seeing a broad range of entrants.”

Organised in association with the Islands’ respective Chambers of Commerce, the Awards celebrate excellence, best practice and innovation in customer service. Their aim is to highlight the contribution great customer service can make to a business’s success – particularly in today’s tough economic climate.

Whilst the awards focus on individuals who go that extra mile to deliver top quality service to customers, they will again include a number of corporate categories for businesses to be able to showcase strategies and innovations they have successfully introduced to develop a customer service culture within their organisation.

Key Dates:

Guernsey

  • Corporate entries open Wednesday 1 May
  • Public voting for individuals opens Monday 3 June and continues throughout the month
  • Awards ceremony Friday 5 July in Market Square, compered by Island FM.

Jersey

  • Corporate entries open Thursday 1 August
  • Public voting for individuals opens Monday 2 September and continues throughout the month
  • Awards ceremony Friday 4 October in Liberty Wharf, compered by Channel 103.

Now entering their third year, and following the success of the 2012 awards in both Islands, Julie Todd, of Organisers Todd and Associates, is looking forward to even better things this year:

“We were thrilled with the number of nominations we got last year – more than 5,300 across both islands, as well as a good number of corporate submissions. It would be fantastic to beat that figure now that the events are better known. We have a couple of new exciting categories and of course I am extremely grateful for the support and assistance we have from the Chambers of Commerce who have really got behind the awards.”

David Warr, President, Jersey Chamber of Commerce explained why they are involved:

“The Jersey Chamber of Commerce sees these awards as a great way of recognising businesses and individuals prepared to give that little bit extra to ensure their customer gets a great experience. First impressions last; customers who are made to feel welcomed and special will return time and again – and a repeat client can be worth his or her weight in gold.”

Rupert Dorey, President of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, added,

“The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce is delighted to support this year’s Customer Service Awards. This is a great opportunity to showcase some of the quality work undertaken by the customer facing sector of our business community. We are all quick to complain when we get bad service so this is a great chance to recognise people who excel!”
