Jersey and Brazil signed a tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) at the Brazilian Embassy in London today (28 January 2013). The agreement was signed by the Assistant Chief Minister with responsibility for External Relations, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, and the Brazilian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Roberto Jaguaribe.
Senator Bailhache said: “The signing of this agreement will help to strengthen and enhance the existing business relationships to the benefit of both Jersey and Brazil. Jersey also attaches great importance to maintaining good relationships with the G20, of which Brazil is a member, and has now signed tax agreements with 17 of the 19 G20 countries.”
The tax information exchange agreement will come into force once the parties have completed their respective domestic procedures for ratification.
