Tassili announces wine masterclasses for 2013, with exceptional visiting experts

Tassili, Grand Jersey’s fine-dining Michelin-starred restaurant, will be hosting a series of wine masterclasses in 2013, giving islanders a taste of some of the finest wines of the world, presented by some of the leading experts in the field.

For wine connoisseurs and novices alike, the evenings offer a two hour wine masterclass in the classroom, sampling a selection of award winning wines from across the globe. The sessions will cover the wine making process and teach how to identify the flavours and characteristics within the selected wines. The lesson is then followed by an aperitif with canapés and an exquisite four-course dinner in Tassili, designed by executive head chef, Richard Allen.

There will be three evenings held throughout the year, with each limited to just 24 guests. On Saturday 9th March, Shaun Corrigan, Tassili’s own restaurant manager and wine expert, will be running a class covering the wines of Italy. On Saturday 15th June, Sebastian Thomas from Howard Ripley Wines in London will be imparting his wisdom on Burgundy wines. Lastly, on Saturday 14th September, Mark Savage, a Master of Wine since 1980, with more than 40 years experience in the wine trade, will be introducing the wines of Austria.

‘These wine masterclasses follow in the footsteps of our hugely successful monthly wine dinners,’ said Eamonn Elliott, general manager at Grand Jersey. ‘They are an opportunity for our wine experts to share their vast knowledge with diners, in a relaxed and stylish environment. As always, we will be doing our homework and showcasing some amazing and unexpected wines. We aim to surprise and educate, and it is guaranteed to be a lot of fun!’
