Sure launches fastest mobile internet in the Channel Islands!
Jersey News, 17 November 2009 – Sure has launched a booster for mobile phones to create the fastest mobile internet in the Channel Islands.
The new booster brings High Speed Mobile Broadband to mobile phones for the first time. Sure customers adding the booster will get download speeds of up to 3.6 megabits per second (Mb/s).
Customers with some high-end 3G phones will be able to add the booster and then use Sure’s High Speed Mobile Broadband either directly from their handset or by using their handset as a modem on any computer.
The main advantage of this technology is to get internet on the move. Sure High Speed Mobile Broadband can be accessed anywhere in the Channel Islands there is a 3G signal, without the need of a fixed connection or wireless network.
The booster uses High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, sometimes called 3.5G, 3G+ or even turbo 3G because it allows higher data transfer speeds using a mobile network. It is the same technology which supports the company’s High Speed Mobile Broadband dongle.
Paul Taylor, Sure’s Marketing Director, commented:
“Increasingly smartphones, like the iPhone, BlackBerry or Nokia E Series, are closer to personal computers than traditional mobile phones. Usage of these devices illustrates that, with a much higher demand for data from smartphone owners. That could be downloading email attachments, using applications or surfing the net. This product is designed to support those data-hungry users, bringing broadband speeds to phones for the first time. I’m delighted that Sure can introduce this innovation to the Channel Islands.”
The High Speed Mobile Broadband booster is available now from Sure for £25 per month. Customers can obtain a £5 per month discount if they sign a Sure 200 contract or above at the same time.
