Students to explore placement opportunities to experience ‘Life in Finance’ at meet and greet session
A ‘meet and greet’ session for Jersey Finance’s 2013 ’Life in Finance’ work experience programme is set to take place this Thursday (22nd November) at the Hotel de France from 3.45pm – 6pm.
So far, 17 Jersey Finance member firms and 43 students have signed up to take part in the 2013 ’Life in Finance’ scheme, which will see successful applicants getting the opportunity to undertake a work placement for one or two weeks in July next year with one of the participating firms.
The ‘Life in Finance’ scheme is organised by Jersey Finance in partnership with Careers Jersey. It takes students through the life-cycle of a typical working career, focusing on educating students about what a career in the finance industry involves and providing an understanding of the industry itself.
Sarah Beirne, Head of Human Resources, PwC, commented:
“’Life in Finance’ is a great introduction into the world of finance for students in Jersey. We are passionate believers in nurturing young local talent and creating opportunities for them to build world class careers on-island. We’re delighted to be sponsoring this valuable meet and greet event for the programme. Thursday’s session is a great opportunity for students to come along and find out more about the work experience opportunities available next summer and to meet people working in each business involved.”
The introductory session this Thursday will take place in the Corbière Room of the Hotel de France, and will enable enrolled students on the programme to find out more about the many varied roles and to network. Students are asked to bring along a copy of their programme application forms, CV and covering letters with the aim of securing a placement with the employers registered.
