TV antiques expert Eric Knowles is coming to Jersey with a team of experts for a free valuation day. The event being organised by auction house Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions is being held at The National Trust of Jersey’s living museum, 16 New Street, St Helier on June 23rd.
Eric Knowles will be joined by several specialists, including: book expert Rupert Powell, Deputy Chairman of Bloomsbury Auctions; Chris Hambleton, Head of the D&B Wine Department, and James Nicholson, Deputy Chairman of D&B Auctions and a qualified gemmologist.
D&B Auctions is now owned by the Jersey based Stanley Gibbons Group and was first established in 1759. They cover all aspects of the fine art and antiques market. The auction house has agreed to donate 50% of their commission from any items which are consigned for auction, to The National Trust of Jersey.
Eric Knowles is a familiar face from television with a particular expertise in decorative arts and ceramics, he says now is the time to have a dig around the attic: ‘You might have something which you’ve been wondering about for years, or perhaps a recent purchase or heirloom which you’re considering selling. This is a rare opportunity to consult a team of expert valuers who between them have decades of experience. There’s no commitment to place your items into auction, but we can talk you through the process if that is something you would like to do.’
There is no charge for the valuations, although the £5 entrance fee for 16 New Street is still payable. All proceeds go to The National Trust of Jersey for their work in preserving sites of historic and natural interest for the benefit of the Island.
The event takes place from 12midday to 4pm on Monday June 23rd. Please note that due to the fragile flooring at 16 New Street, no stilettos are allowed.
