Saturday shopper parking trial at Ann Place

The Minister for Transport and Technical Services (TTS), Deputy Kevin Lewis, is introducing a trial, allowing 4 hour parking in Ann Place Car Park on five consecutive Saturdays starting from this Saturday, 6 October.

Ann Place Car Park has 145 spaces which are normally occupied by all day parkers. By changing the maximum stay to four hours means this car park will be freed up for shoppers on these Saturdays. It is hoped that its proximity to the north of town shopping area will be popular. There is plenty of parking available at Green Street Car Park for the displaced residents and commuters.

The TTS Minister said: “We are running this trial to see if turning this car park into a shoppers’ car park on Saturdays helps the retailers in St Helier. It is not a question of there not being enough short-stay parking – the multi-storey car parks are never full on a Saturday except for a few days around Christmas time. It is about location, this trial is about making more spaces available in a car park which is quite close to the shops around West Centre and the markets.”
