Pedestrian Refuge Island at Bel Royal

| January 28, 2014 | 0 Comments

Transport and Technical Services (TTS) is looking for feedback on a proposal to install a pedestrian refuge island on La Route de St Aubin at Bel Royal adjacent to Bel Royal Garage.

The new island will make it more convenient and safer as pedestrians will be able to cross each carriageway individually.

Three car park spaces will be lost to create space for the island, however the removal of the parking will also substantially improve safety for large vehicles, especially buses that are currently forced to cross the white line when travelling eastwards.

Further details and drawings of the project can be found on www.gov.je/consult. Anyone wishing to comment on the proposals is asked to contact the Department either by email to tts@gov.je or in writing addressed to Transport Policy – Bel Royal Crossing, Transport and Technical Services, PO Box 412, South Hill, St Helier by Friday 21st February.
