ON 3rd July 2014, Advocate Michael Backhurst officially retired from his role as legal adviser for the Centre Point Trust. He has been involved with the Charity since its inception some 30 years ago and in fact wrote its original constitution.
To mark the occasion Nigel Hill and Jane Moy of the Centre Point Trust attended the offices of Hanson Renouf and presented Mike with a retirement gift.
Upon his retirement from the Trust, Mike handed the baton over to his Hanson Renouf colleague, Michelle Leverington, who has been appointed Vice Chairperson of the Charity.
Nigel Hill, Chairman of Centre Point, commented:
“The Board Members and staff at Centre Point are extremely grateful for all the work that Mike has done for us over the last 30 years. Centre Point has come a long way since the days of Brighton Road School in the 80’s with 50 children, to having 2 sites and caring for over 500 of Jersey’s children now. It’s clear that Mike was instrumental in our development and we wish him well in his retirement. We are also grateful to Hanson Renouf for their pro-bono legal support over the years and pleased that Michelle Leverington (our Vice Chair) will carry on supporting us in legal matters”
Michelle’s appointment will ensure continuity of service for the Charity; a continuity that is reflected in the Private Client service of Hanson Renouf itself.
Mike Backhurst and Michelle Leverington have a busy Private Client practice at Hanson Renouf and provide a multitude of services ranging from Wills and Probate to Conveyancing matters to Private Loan agreements. Further information can be found on the Hanson Renouf website: www.hansonrenouf.com
