Picking up a parcel from the Post Office is even easier, thanks to a new service from Jersey Post which links straight to islanders’ mobile phones.
Customers who sign up for the Text & Collect service from Jersey Post will be notified by an SMS to their phone whenever a parcel or packet has arrived for them. Then all they have to do is go direct to Commercial Street or Rue Des Pres, whichever they have chosen for collections, to receive their packages. For customers electing to use the service, it means no more waiting another 24 hours before they can pick up their parcels, if they are out when the postman tries to make the initial delivery.
Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations at Jersey Post, said: ‘We are constantly looking for new ways to make our services more convenient for our customers. We already have the Secure Drop option, where parcels can be left in a designated place at the recipient’s home address, or with a neighbour, but this service uses technology to add value for those people who are not able to take advantage of those services, and those who perhaps live or work in Town or near Rue Des Pres’.
When a customer receives a text that a packet awaits them, they visit their designated collection point and show photographic ID. The Commercial Street collection point is open between 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on a Saturday. The Rue des Pres collection point is opening 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 8.30am to 1pm on a Saturday.
Customers wishing to sign up for the service should go to www.jerseypost.com/textandcollect for an application form to register the names of those wishing to take advantage of the initiative. As an added incentive, Jersey Post is offering a 16GB wifi Mini iPad to one lucky islander who signs up before 30th November.
