Jersey News, 14 December 2009 – Following the successful recruitment of 26 trainees this year, KPMG Channel Islands Limited is now focusing on the Autumn 2010 trainee intake and holding open days for students to find out about the company’s career opportunities, benefits and studying for professional qualifications.

KPMG, which was recently awarded Investors in People (IIP) accreditation, has a strong history of growing its own talent by recruiting school leavers and graduates and supporting them through professional qualifications.

‘It’s something that we firmly believe in as there is no greater lesson than learning through work. Our trainees are our future and so we want to ensure that we recruit the very best. Holding open days allows students to come in and ask questions in a very relaxed environment and learn more about what a career with KPMG involves. We have always found them to be very useful in meeting potential employees,’ said Heather MacCallum, KPMG’s HR partner in Jersey.

The open day takes place from 4.30pm until 7pm on Thursday 17th December at KPMG’s offices at 5, St Andrew’s Place, Charing Cross, St Helier. Refreshments will be served and there will be a brief introduction at 4.30pm although students can drop in at a time to suit them.

‘Being part of a global network which has a strong presence in Jersey offers students a very rewarding career and so anyone considering a career in accountancy or tax can come along. If people can’t make it, then they can get more information about career opportunities by emailing lcarrington@kpmg.jersey.je ,’ said Ms MacCallum.
