Ogier are to sponsor Jersey Youth, also known as the Colts, who will be looking to build on an excellent 2011/12 season and enhance a reputation as a breeding ground for future Jersey 1st XV players.
‘We are delighted to have Ogier coming on board to sponsor the Youth Team,’ said Jersey Rugby Football Club chairman Kevin Lemasney. ‘Their support will be pivotal in enabling us to continue to provide a suitable infrastructure for our young players – in terms of fixtures, travel, coaching and equipment – so that they are able to maximise their potential.’
Paul Willing, Chief Executive Officer of Ogier Fiduciary Services said ‘Ogier has always been committed to investing in the growth and development of the young, through education and sport. Jersey Youth team achieved great success last season and this extra funding will enable the club to invest further in infrastructure and training for the squad, helping it achieve its potential for future successes.’
JRFC Youth won the Hampshire League in 2011/12, as well as the Junior Siam Cup against Guernsey, and were presented with the Aurigny Channel Island Junior Team of the Year award.
As well as seeking further league success in the coming season, it is also the aim to seek additional fixtures against youth sides from France, as well as continuing to offer a warm welcome and a good game of rugby to touring UK sides.
Jersey Youth will also be seeking to continue to play a positive role in the community by supporting a designated charity on the Island.
