O Captain, my Captain.

To commemorate the tragic death of Robin Williams, Gallery is staging a special one off charity screening of Dead Poets Society raising money for the mental health charity, Mind Jersey this Friday evening, 15th August. They’re doing so with a view to honouring the extraordinary spirit of Robin Williams and the urgent need to address an issue that concerns all, mental health.

They’re doing so after hearing that SecretCinema, the UK cinema community, were looking for partners to join them in hosting screenings that would happen simultaneously across the UK and beyond. The special screenings, in memory of Robin Williams, will be encouraged to go nationwide and across Europe simultaneously at 8pm UK / 9pm CET. The folks at Gallery loved Robin Williams, the chosen film and wanted to represent Jersey. They’ve therefore arranged for a screening at the Cinema within the Jersey Museum.

The cost of the show will be £20.00 per person and all proceeds will go to Mind Jersey. Space is limited and it will be an intimate affair but hopefully enough to recognise a worthy cause and celebrate the life of the man. Gallery will be bringing popcorn, the adjacent Merchant House is open and drinks are allowed in the auditorium.

Audience members must be 15 years and above. If you’re not Battle of Flowers-ing, loved Robin Williams, care about mental health or all three, take a look. See www.gallery.je/deadpoets
