The Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) has launched its fifth annual search to find the top business leaders in Jersey’s private, public and voluntary sectors.
The 2014 Director of the Year Awards, sponsored by Appleby and JT, will culminate in a celebration of excellence, innovation and best practice in Jersey business at a black tie awards dinner on Friday 16th May.
The Awards recognise the high calibre of individuals in Jersey’s boardrooms and their achievements. The Awards have their own website, www.iod.je, where anyone can nominate someone they think is so inspiring that they deserve to be recognised with a Director of the Year Award. The awards are open to both members and non-members of the IoD.
Jason Laity, IoD Jersey branch Chairman said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the strength of leadership needed to deal with the wide range of issues that affect the success of local organisations, including the challenging economic climate, and I hope people take a few minutes to nominate someone that they know has made a real difference through their skill, dedication and hard work.”
Three previous local winners (Richard Rolfe in 2011, Eliot Lincoln in 2012 and Eamonn Elliott in 2013) have gone on to win their categories in the National IoD Awards, generating fantastic recognition for themselves, their employers and the Island.
There are seven categories for the Director of the Year Awards 2014, including a new award that will recognise leadership in the growing field of corporate social responsibility (CSR):
1. Director of the Year for a Small Organisation (less than 10 employees)
2. Director of the Year for a Medium Organisation (11-100 employees)
3. Director of the Year for a Large Organisation (100+ employees)
4. Young Director of the Year
5. Public/Third Sector Director of the Year
6. Director of the Year for Leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility
7. Global Director of the Year
Online nominations via www.iod.je are straightforward to complete and include a concise recommendation of up to 250 words outlining each nominee’s most outstanding achievements. For the purposes of the Awards, a ‘Director’ can include anyone that has the strategic responsibilities of a Director but does not necessarily carry that specific title, such as a Partner or Head of Department.
The Nomination Deadline is Friday 28th February 2014.
