Local trust company steps up to sponsor the Itex-Rotary walks

Walkers in the 2012 Itex-Rotary walks will be doing it in style thanks to the generous sponsorship of the t-shirts by Jersey Trust Company Group (JTC).

Around 2,000 t-shirts have been ordered for the walks in Guernsey and Jersey and will be distributed to all walkers and helpers. JTC Group has agreed to cover the cost of the production and printing of the shirts which boast a bespoke design – specially designed for the occasion. JTC Director, Marketing & Communication, Sarah Madel explains why the Group has got involved with the walks – which have now become major community events in both islands:

“JTC Group is delighted to be supporting the 2012 Itex-Rotary Around the Island walks as both events provide vital support for local charities within Jersey and Guernsey – two of JTC’s nine office locations. The t-shirt slogan reads ‘Stepping out on a BIG adventure’ which also very much ties in with our own on-going international expansion plans, as well as highlighting the walkers’ achievement.”

The walks which are on 9 June (Guernsey) and 23 June (Jersey) raise significant funds for worthwhile causes in the Channel Islands and organisers hope that this year will be no exception. The events rely heavily on support received from individuals and businesses alike:

“Without the involvement of our corporate sponsors the events just couldn’t take place” explains Richard Parker, Chairman of the Guernsey walk committee.

“We are fortunate enough to have sponsors and volunteers for each checkpoint and to have secured funding to cover the T shirt cost makes a huge difference – ensuring that all monies raised go directly to the selected charities. We are extremely grateful to JTC Group for their support”.

Registration for the walks closes soon but there is still time. And both islands’ walks offer shorter options for those who don’t wish to tackle the onerous 48 (Jersey) and 39 (Guernsey) mile routes. The Lieutenant Governor’s walk in Jersey incorporates around a quarter of the whole route, and for Guernsey walkers there is the option of entering a team to cover the route in relay fashion – no limit to the numbers in the team so people can walk a section in pairs or small groups.
