A team of experts from Nokia visited both Jersey and Guernsey this month to deliver a master-class to JT staff and business customers on Windows 8, Microsoft’s latest Windows operating system.
Nokia’s leading Lumia handsets are powered by Windows 8 and the master-class involved in-depth demonstrations of the advantages that new operating system can provide. Windows 8 enables users of the Lumia to access Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel through the 4G mobile devices. It also enables them to their work files on their PC and phone using SkyDrive and additionally share documents through SharePoint – all of which make it particularly attractive to business customers.
In total, 17 staff from the business solution team and the Guernsey retails outlet received the training and were joined by 22 JT corporate customers for the demonstration.
Aaron Major, Senior Trainer for Nokia said: “As well as demonstrating the new Windows 8 operating system our visit to JT’s offices also meant we were able to share some hints and tips with the team on getting the most out of our Lumia handsets. It’s always a pleasure to provide training to our suppliers and across the Channel Islands JT’s customer base has really embraced our Lumia range so it was an ideal opportunity to provide some direct training to their staff to pass on to customers. The new Windows 8 technology really does represent the next generation in mobile communications and having held a partnership with Windows since 2011 we’re delighted to share our knowledge and expertise with JT.”
Tim Ringsdore, Managing Director for JT’s Global Enterprise Unit said: “It’s vital that the team at JT is equipped with the knowledge to provide expert advice to all of our customers and to have Nokia representatives come to the Islands to provide a hands-on demonstration was invaluable. Our customers who attended also found the session very useful as they were able to see the extent to which the new operating system can enhance the way they manage their work and communications while on the move.”
“Where possible we work with all of our suppliers to ensure our team has up-to-the-minute knowledge of emerging technology to ensure our customers can rely on our advice and guidance when deciding on new mobile devices. We’re now fully equipped to provide advice to our customers when they’re looking at mobile devices which work off the Windows 8 operating system.”
