Jersey News, 3 November 2009 – As of Wednesday 4 November, Jersey Telecom mobile customers will be able to enjoy a host of deals, discounts and special offers from local businesses thanks to an innovative new loyalty programme based on text messaging.
‘JT Love Wednesdays’ is an innovative new scheme that rewards JT customers for their loyalty and also supports other local businesses, something that is particularly relevant during the current economic downturn. To take part, JT customers simply text the word ‘LOVE’ to the shortcode 241 and they will then be sent a unique pin code voucher direct to their mobile. The voucher can then be redeemed at a number of local ‘Love Wednesdays’ partners. Offers available from launch include; 2 for 1 tickets at Cineworld, buy-one-get-one-free at Pizza Express, two-for-one meals all day at El Tico Beach Cantina, Ingalill’s Restaurant on Gorey Pier and 2 for 1 buffet menu at the Pomme D’or Harbour Room. More partners are expected to be announced over the coming months.
Each JT customer may claim one voucher per week and they can only be redeemed on a Wednesday at one of the JT Love Wednesday partners. Customers are able to text every week for their new unique voucher and it will only cost them the price of a standard 7p text message.
Yannick Fillieul, Head of Consumer Marketing at Jersey Telecom, said: “In the current economic climate, we wanted to offer our customers a little something to reward their loyalty and brighten up their week. For the cost of a single text message, every JT mobile customer will be able to enjoy a weekly treat on us and with our JT Love Wednesdays partners, we are also supporting other local businesses.”
The loyalty scheme is available to any JT mobile customer, including pay-as-you-go users and business customers. JT Love Wednesdays partners have been equipped with special electronic redemption units that will validate the customers’ pin numbers that are sent directly to their handsets, helping to ensure that using the vouchers will be secure and hassle free. JT has already used similar technology as part of its headline sponsorship of the Jersey Live music festival.
Mr Fillieul added: “This is a great example of new uses for mobile technology and we’re very excited about the whole scheme. Ultimately, the more JT customers that take advantage of Love Wednesdays, the more local businesses will benefit and the more Love Wednesdays partners we will be able to attract. It’s also a great way for JT customers to show how much they love their friends and family by sharing their midweek treat.”
Andrew Hosegood at El Tico Beach Cantina said: “We think the JT Love Wednesdays scheme is a fantastic idea and we’re delighted to be part of it from the start. JT has tens of thousands of customers and this is a great opportunity for local companies to boost business while offering customers even better value for money and we are certainly pleased to be a part of it.”
