Most people know that breast cancer is suffered by 1 in 8 women – but how many people know that twice as many women will experience domestic violence? One woman in every four will be abused by her partner, making domestic violence is the biggest single issue impacting on women.

Domestic violence is a huge issue. But it’s a problem that too many people misunderstand and turn a blind eye to. You might think you don’t know anyone who’s experienced domestic abuse – but it’s likely that you do. You might even know someone who’s going through it right now – a friend, family member or colleague.

Refuge provides life changing services for women and children escaping domestic violence. Refuge supports women and children through our many services, including refuge, community outreach, group programmes and counselling. Refuge also works hard to raise awareness of the issue of domestic violence, reaching out to women who need our support while
challenging the myths and misunderstandings around domestic violence.

It is our mission to empower women & children affected by abuse and seek to eliminate domestic violence through education and awareness.

That is why we are delighted to continue to work with Voisin’s and their Benefit department, and all of their representatives and customers, in the Mascarathon event. This event will reach out to women throughout the Island who may be experiencing domestic violence or know someone who is. By raising awareness and funds for vital domestic violence services, Benefit and Refuge will be able to reach out to many more women who need support. Join us in Mascarathon and together we will make a difference.
