Follow last year’s success, Jersey’s youngsters are again being invited to take part in a mini triathlon which is being held at Les Quennevais on Saturday 5 July.
Last year’s event raised £4,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and attracted 200 youngsters, the largest triathlon event in Jersey to date. The event is again being organized by Airtel-Vodafone and the charity to raise money for the cause. Every child who enters will receive a t-shirt and medal on the day.
The length of the course will again depend on the age group:
• Year 2 & 3 – swim 25m, cycle 1.5km, run 600m
• Year 4, 5 & 6 – swim 50m, cycle 3km, run 800m
• Year 7 & 8 – swim 100m, cycle 4.5km, run 1200
Christine Rowland from Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research said: “The event is not a race but an opportunity for the children to improve their skills in swimming, cycling and running as well as giving them the responsibility of raising their sponsorship. Last year was fantastic and the atmosphere meant that families came not only to support their children but also to face painting, bouncy castles and lots of other activities. They will all be back and we want as many people as possible not only to enter but also to come and have fun.”
Entry forms are available from www.airtel-vodafone.com/charity or by emailing CROWLAND1946@GMAIL.COM. The deadline for registration is 23 June.
Entry forms, and £5 per child (£10 for families of two or more children), should be sent to the chairman, Christine Rowland:
