JERSEY GOLFING PRODIGY TO HELP RISING STARS

Isle News, 26 October 2009 – Promising Jersey golfer Sam Creenan is planning to share his knowledge with other young golfers at a masterclass next week.

Sam, 18, is working with his sponsor KPMG Channel Islands, to host the masterclass for eight juniors from St Clements Golf Club on Wednesday 28th October.

‘We are delighted that Sam has managed to find time in his busy training schedule to help these youngsters with their golfing skills. Sam is a fantastic example of how hard work and dedication is important in achieving your goals and we are sure he will be inspirational to the group, said Helen Hart , Business Development Manager, for  KPMG in the Channel Islands.

‘It is a pleasure for KPMG Channel Islands to be Sam’s sponsor as we recognise his potential and have every confidence that he will soon be competing at a global level which will be an amazing achievement and great news for Jersey.’

Sam, who is Junior Club Captain at the Royal Jersey Golf Club, has had a busy summer having taken part in the Island Games, played for the Hampshire boy’s tea, and won the Channel Island Junior Championship. He has also lowered his handicap to scratch after great performances at the Hayling Island Junior Open and the Liphook Junior Open.

During the masterclass, Sam will teach the youngsters some of the secrets to his success. Afterwards there will be a reception for the youngsters and their parents and all the participants will receive a goodie bag from KPMG.

‘The support from KPMG is vital in helping me to achieve my goal of becoming professional and so I am only too happy that with their help, I can spend time with younger golfers who will hopefully want to follow in my footsteps,’ he said.

The golf masterclass takes place at St Clements Golf Course on Wednesday 28th October from 12.30pm.
