Jersey firms among winners at prestigious STEP Private Client Awards

Four leading industry figures and 17 firms were recognised at the annual STEP Private Client Awards 2012/13, the respected international awards for ¬the whole private wealth sector, which took place in London last Wednesday (19 September).
Among those who picked up group awards were Hawksford (Owner-Managed Trust Team of the Year) and Ogier (International Legal Team). Both firms have offices in St Helier.

Ceris Gardner TEP of Maurice Turnor Gardner was named Trusted Advisor of the Year and Paul Stibbard TEP of Rothschild was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. HMRC’s Martin Randall and Prof Dr Xavier Oberson TEP of Oberson Avocats were each presented with the Geoffrey Shindler Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession.
Winning a STEP PCA has proved to be a clear mark of excellence as entries go through a rigorous, practitioner-led three-stage judging process to select the best in the industry. Chair of the PCA Presiding Judges Martyn Gowar TEP, who opened the ceremony, said: ‘Just being shortlisted is a great achievement, so the firms and individuals who won should be very proud indeed.’

Nearly 700 private client professionals gathered for the seventh annual Awards at the London Hilton on Park Lane hotel, which was hosted by BBC reporter Kate Adie OBE. For the first time, STEP had a live Twitter feed (@STEPSociety #STEPPCA) announcing the winners, and the event was filmed.

The event supported Feed the Minds for a second year, raising a further GBP56,623 for the international charity.
