The Jersey Customs and Immigration Service has published its Annual Report for the year 2013.
The Home Affairs Minister made the following comment:
“The Customs and Immigration Service is a very flexible Service, which responds to changing patterns of behaviour in order to effectively protect the Island from the threats of illegal immigration, the importation of prohibited goods and the fraudulent evasion of duties.
The changing pattern of the misuse of drugs with a variety of New Psychoactive Substances has created new challenges. I am confident that the Service will continue to meet all these challenges in a professional manner.
During 2013 the then Head of Service, Mr Mike Robinson retired and I particularly want to pay tribute to his excellent work and to welcome the new Head of Service, Mr David Nurse.
The Service, of course, can only be as successful as the people in it and I would like to finish by thanking the management and staff for all their endeavours during 2013.”
