The opportunity to develop important business relations with China has been boosted further with the establishment of a business development presence for Locate Jersey in Beijing, using the China British Business Council (CBBC) Launchpad service.
Locate Jersey will also be present at the prestigious CBBC China Business Conference on 14th March in London, and are encouraging local companies that have an interest in doing business with China to attend.
The CBBC Launchpad service provides a simple, cost-effective, low-risk and legal means of having a presence in China. The service provides the Island with a dedicated presence in Beijing, enabling Locate Jersey to maintain and build on existing relationships, whilst establishing new links and ultimately generating tangible business opportunities from across the commerce, agriculture, tourism and finance sectors.
Minister for Economic Development, Senator Alan Maclean explains: ‘China represents a strong economic opportunity for Jersey. We believe the Chinese opportunity can play a significant role in achieving our economic diversification and growth plans.’
‘The past 12 months has seen delegations from Jersey to China, with dialogue maintained throughout with all economic sectors. It is now time to evolve the relationships built with businesses and Government Associations who are actively seeking a gateway into the UK and Mainland Europe. This move will signify to the Chinese the importance we are placing on developing bi-lateral trade, cultural and governmental relationships in mainland China and will complement the Jersey Finance Limited office in Hong Kong.’
The presence will be established by late Spring 2013.
CBBC China Business Conference

Locate Jersey is urging any local business with an interest in doing business with China to consider attending the event.
Locate Jersey is hosting the lunch at the Conference, where Senator Alan Maclean will give an introductory speech about the key business benefits of relocation. Key note speeches will be given by Rt Hon Ken Clarke QC MP and Minister for UK Government; Sir David Brewer CMG, Chairman of CBBC; Bob Grace, President of Jaguar Land Rover China and a Senior Chinese Representative providing an excellent opportunity to communicate at the highest level that Jersey is ‘open for business’.
