Jersey Business has announced plans for a week of events and activities to celebrate enterprise in the Island, culminating in the Awards for Enterprise on Friday 13th June.

Leading speakers, business networking events and educational seminars are all planned in the build up to the gala awards night and dinner, held at Fort Regent.

Jersey Business is working in partnership with a number of organisations to deliver the programme, which includes a business to business networking event at Liberty Wharf where local companies will have an opportunity to showcase their products and services as well as building their client base both with other exhibitors and visitors to the event.

Working with Young Enterprise, Jersey Business will deliver an evening event and talk aimed specifically at younger entrepreneurs, giving them advice and tools to think about developing their own business ideas. A recent study in the UK* showed that more entrepreneurs than ever between the ages of 18 and 30 are starting their own businesses using government-backed agencies for support.

A breakfast seminar hosted by Moore Stephens and Close Finance will provide an opportunity for local businesses to network, share ideas and hear about the challenges, and rewards, of starting a business. The session will include a panel debate on the subject and profiling of the level of support available in Jersey for SME’s.

A key topic for the week will be how Jersey can strengthen its economy through encouraging a more diverse range of individuals to help drive recovery and growth by starting or expanding their own business.

And the week will be rounded off by the Jersey Business Awards for Enterprise, a celebration of those businesses who are already making a significant contribution economically and socially through their enterprising spirit. More than 100 companies have entered the Awards this year, demonstrating the level of confidence among the local business community in the Island’s on-going economic recovery.

Tickets have now gone on sale for the event, hosted by broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky, and all details for the Enterprise Awards can be found on the Jersey Business website, and further details about the Enterprise Week events will be released in due course.
