The Institute of Directors’ Director of The Year Awards are a vital part of the business calendar in Jersey, says the chair of the judging panel.

Eliot Lincoln, the 2012 winner of both the Jersey IoD Director of the Year for a Medium Company and the UK national winner of the IoD Young Director of the Year, believes that the annual awards are “a showcase for the highest standards of organisational direction that exist anywhere in the world.

“They are a way for Jersey to demonstrate the skills, entrepreneurialism and talent that exists throughout our jurisdiction.”

As Island professionals continue to nominate business leaders in Jersey’s private, public and voluntary sectors, IoD Jersey has announced the panel of senior Island professionals who will judge entries received by the closing date of Friday 28 February 2014.

Chaired by Eliot Lincoln, founder and CEO of Greenlight, the judging panel includes Wendy Dorman, tax partner at PwC; Laura Rowley, Treasurer of the States; Nick Winsor, CEO of HSBC for the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man and Eamonn Elliott, general manager of The Grand Hotel.

Eliot Lincoln created Greenlight, the Channel Islands’ leading business transformation specialists, in 2008 and with the help of his team of expert change managers has developed the company into a highly successful business helping clients from the Channel Islands, UK, Europe and South America through the most challenging demands in implementing change. Eliot is a co-founder of Jersey’s first annual Ultra Marathon event “Round the Rock” and is a director of Jersey Business.

Wendy Dorman, who leads PwC’s Channel Island tax practice, has more than 20 years’ experience in taxation, both in practice and in industry, in the UK and offshore. Wendy sits on the committee of the Jersey branch of the IoD and was awarded the 2011 IoD Female Director of the Year. She is a former president of the Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants and a member of the Jersey Finance Fiscal Strategy Group.

Laura Rowley is Treasurer of the States of Jersey, a qualified accountant and holds an MBA. Laura is responsible for the proper stewardship and administration of the public finances of Jersey, including setting professional standards, sound financial management and ensuring timely and accurate financial information is available. Specific duties range from preparing the States’ annual accounts and managing investments in excess of £2 billion, to pensions, audit, property and procurement.

Nick Winsor is CEO of HSBC for the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Nick oversees the local retail and commercial bank, HSBC Bank International, asset management, private bank and trust businesses of the HSBC Group in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. He has 30 years’ international experience in financial services with the HSBC Group.

Eamonn Elliott began his career as a professional footballer for Carlisle United before moving into hotel management. His responsibility to Grand Jersey and its stakeholders is to act as a custodian of this iconic property; maintaining its position as the highest rated hotel in the Channel Islands, through continuous improvement in both the fabric of the building and how the team delivers an exceptional experience to all of its customers whilst driving profitability. In 2013 he was named Young Director of the Year by the IoD in Jersey and nationally.
