Alexandra Baker has joined the Hanson Renouf litigation department as an associate with particular expertise in high value catastrophic injury and clinical negligence claims. With the recruitment of Alexandra, combined with the experience of Advocate Timothy Hanson and associate Lisa Simpson in particular, the Hanson Renouf litigation team is strengthening considerably its developing practice of personal injury.
Alexandra, who was admitted as an English Solicitor in 2006, has been working for specialist insurance litigation firm Kennedys in the UK since 2007, and has extensive experience of representing insurance clients in the High Court in London. Claims have included; cerebral palsy, Erb’s palsy, neonatal deaths and neurological, psychiatric and orthopaedic injuries.
Her reported cases include:
Christyne Norman v Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Trust  MLC 1603 QBD where Alexandra successfully defended a claim concerning allegations of a negligent delay in diagnosis of breast cancer, and
Jennifer Simpson (as Assignee of Alan Catchpole) v Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust  EWCA Civ 1149 in which she was the lead Solicitor and for which the claim was successfully struck out.
Alexandra also provides advice on healthcare issues, including consent to treatment, end of life decisions, mental capacity, clinical risk, complaints, data protection and child protection.
Prior to reading law at Cardiff University, Alexandra was born in Jersey and educated at Jersey College for Girls.
