Get fit for Business raises funds for the One Foundation

The Get Fit for Business initiative, launched by Prosperity 24.7 this summer, has raised £700 for the One Foundation. The scheme was launched to help local business people get fit for the 2012 Standard Chartered Marathon and provided an opportunity for the business men and women to train with each other for their relay leg in the Marathon while building their business network, making new friends and raising money for the One Foundation in the process.

The runners set off from the centre of town every Monday evening and extended the length of their jog each week, they started by first running the length of the shortest leg in the marathon and worked their way up to, and a lot further past, the longest length of seven miles; for every Monday session the runners took part in, they kindly donated £5 to the charity.  Alongside the Monday night training sessions, once a month the runners met for a ‘joggers tipple’, this was a great way to get to know the other runners and have a chat while not struggling for breath!!

The One Foundation Chairman, Kevin Lemasney, who took part in the scheme to prepare himself for his leg of the relay race which he was running for one of the Dominion Fiduciary Services teams, said “Chris and his team have brought some fun to business and some business to fun and we are extremely grateful to all the runners for their generous contribution to the One Foundation. These funds will be used to support one of the many good causes that we are examining at present and we look forward to working together again in the future.”

Chris Clark, Managing Director of Prosperity 24.7 said “Firstly, I would really like to thank the team at the One Foundation for their support; we will continue to raise awareness and funds to support the great work that they are doing for local people. Regarding our initiative, the regular Monday sessions have been well received with both our team and business people who participated, it also really helped us to compete in the marathon relay rather than just participate, which was very rewarding for those that put in the effort. As we enjoyed it so much, we are still training on Monday evenings come rain or shine (or darkness fairly soon!) and if anyone wants to keep motivated, they can simply join us at”.
