The future corporate structure of Jersey’s harbours and airport are set to be discussed at the IoD Jersey lunch this month.
In a talk at the Grand Jersey on Tuesday 8th July, sponsored by Prosperity 24:7 and entitled ‘’Ports of Jersey – the case for incorporation’, Doug Bannister, Group CEO for Jersey Airport and Jersey Harbours, will outline the benefits to Jersey and the public of incorporation and debate the challenges and opportunities such a change in corporate structure might have for the island.
Having become Group CEO for Jersey Airport and Jersey Harbours in July 2011, Doug has responsibility for the future strategic and financial structure of the businesses. With a feature of his career to date having been to deliver successful change and transformation programmes, since assuming his new role Doug has undertaken an ambitious integration programme, inside of six months, to unite the businesses under a single management structure.
With over 20 years’ experience in international business, holding senior executive positions with leading sea transportation company P&O Nedlloyd in North America, Europe, Asia, India and New Zealand, Doug was also Managing Director with Maersk Line UK and Ireland, the largest container shipping company in the UK. Born in New Jersey, Doug holds dual British and American citizenship and moved to Jersey from Liverpool. He holds an MBA in International Marketing and a BA in Economics.
Richard Rolfe, Chairman of the Jersey IoD Events committee, said:
“The airport and harbour are clearly vital links for Jersey, both for those living here and those wishing to travel here for business and leisure. They are lifeline operations and any change in how they are run and managed should be a point of interest for us all. I am delighted that Doug is able to join us for our lunch this month, and I am sure he will provide some fascinating insights into the processes involved in incorporation and the resulting challenges and benefits that will bring.”
