Jersey was featured on French television last night, Monday 17 March as Jersey was the location for this week’s ‘Bachelor’ programme. The location has been kept secret up until now to keep the shows viewers in suspense as to which destination would be hosting the ‘Bachelor’ next, however all was revealed during last night’s broadcast!
Jersey Tourism supported the French digital TV channel NT1, (Nouvelle Télévision 1) in bringing the French version of the popular American TV show ‘The Bachelor’ to Jersey and facilitating filming at different stunning locations, to show off the island’s romantic side to its best.
The programme concept sees the eligible bachelor dating the selected 24 contestants, then eliminating those each week that have not caught his eye! The Jersey programme was 90 minutes long and featured the bachelor on dates at Corbiére Lighthouse for a romantic picnic, blokarting at St Ouen’s Bay, coasteering at St Brelade’s Bay with Absolute Adventures and dinning at Longueville Manor. Each of the sets were beautifully decorated which provided the ideal setting fit for a bachelor!
Jersey Tourism partnered with the Royal Yacht Hotel for the accommodation, and with Flybe and Condor France to bring the cast and crew of 28 to the island for filming in July 2013. The Royal Yacht hotel with its luxurious penthouse suite overlooking the marina was at the heart of the programme.
The eight episode series commenced after Valentine’s Day and is broadcast every Monday at 8:45pm for eight weeks on French TV channel NT1, an innovative and upbeat channel aimed at young adults.
The producer of the show first became interested in featuring the island as part of the programme when she saw a Jersey Tourism campaign advert in Elle magazine, which encouraged her choice of Jersey as a destination for the ‘Bachelor’!
The series is creating successful viewing figures this year seeing 600,000 viewers for the third episode plus replays and digital viewers. David de Carteret, Director of Jersey Tourism commented: “We are delighted that NT1 has chosen Jersey as the destination for this programme as it adds weight to our French 2014 campaign promoting Jersey as a short break destination.”
Jersey Tourism along with key partners is running a facebook competition starting after the show has aired, giving fans the opportunity to win a competition prize, a package to Jersey fit for a bachelor.
