With just 17 days to go, Variety, the Children’s Charity is making a final plea for nominations for the new look ‘Variety’s Star of the Year Awards,’

Aimed at young people in the Island aged between six and sixteen, the annual awards celebrate the courage, creativity, and commitment of children and young people in Jersey with some amazing prizes on offer including a fabulous top prize of an incredible £5,000 worth of travel vouchers from The Co-operative Travelmaker.

Each of the six category winners will also take home £500 worth of Co-operative vouchers.

Sandra Auckland, the Chief Barker for Variety said, “We have already received a diverse range of entries but would like to put an urgent call out to all islanders to nominate family members or friends. We know there are so many ‘stars’ out there and we really want to recognise them. We want to reward stars from different backgrounds and with differing talents, and would urge people to visit our website as soon as possible, the nomination process is simple and with such fantastic prizes on offer there is nothing to lose!”

The 2014 event marks some changes, and this year the categories will celebrate ‘Stars’ who shine in the areas of; Courage, Community and Carer, with new categories added to reward those who show outstanding achievement in the fields of Sports, Arts, including Music and Dance, or Academia.

Nomination forms are available online at and also in hard copy format from all Co-operative food stores, Youth Clubs and Parish Halls.

Closing date for nominations is Friday 8th of August and all those shortlisted will be invited, along with their friends and families to a Gala Celebration at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in October.
