Environmentally friendly fleet cars for States
Next year the States vehicle fleet will be more environmentally friendly with cars producing less than 110 gm/km of carbon dioxide and there will also be ten electric cars.
The Minister for TTS has signed the acceptance of a tender from Jacksons (CI) Ltd, trading as Motor Mall, for the supply of lease cars to States of Jersey departments for a three year period from January 2013 following a competitive tender.
The agreement provides for the lease of cars used by the majority of States departments. Environmental requirements were included in the tender specification. All vehicles supplied must produce less than 110 gm/km of carbon dioxide as well as being highly fuel-efficient.
In addition to the tender for general fleet vehicles a separate tender was also won by Jacksons / Motor Mall for the supply of 10 electric cars for a three year trial period by States departments. In both cases Peugeot vehicles will be supplied.
The contract was put out to tender in May 2012 and three local companies tendered for each of the contracts on offer.
These cars will be used by States employees in carrying out their duties.
