Jersey Opera House would like some youthful input for the launch of its new Children’s Drama Classes.
The new programme, which starts this September, is for five to seven year olds and eight to ten year olds respectively, and both have their own unique identities. The younger age group will be known as the Dragons and the older as the Chameleons.
Jersey Opera House would like to invite local children to come up with logo designs for each of the two age categories, which aptly illustrate the two groups; Chameleons and Dragons. The competition is open to children between five and ten years of age and they are eligible to enter logo designs for either or both age categories.
Theatre Director Jasmine Hendry said: “It’s been a vision since I started here five years ago to have our own children’s drama classes and, with the addition of the new studio space, this has now been realised. The classes are all about inclusion and confidence building, with the emphasis on fun for all. We have already had a really positive response since announcing it in our brochure and we are really excited about the launch in September.”
The lucky winners of each category will be given free drama classes for one term. The ten week course costs £75 per child.
The competition closing date is Wednesday 1st August and the Jersey Opera House team looks forward to judging the entries which will see local children getting creative with their chameleons and design dynamic with their dragons.
Entries should either be sent via email to email@example.com or by post to: Children’s Drama Classes Competition, Jersey Opera House, Gloucester Street, St Helier, JE2 3QR.
