The 6th annual Jersey Hospice Care Golf Day took place on Friday 5th October; sponsored for the fourth year by Dominion Fiduciary Services Limited.
The annual event has proved to be a popular date in the sporting calendar with many teams making a come back year on year. Sixteen teams of four entered the competition; the excellent team spirit which prevailed ensured that a challenging round of golf was enjoyed by all. The players enjoyed a breakfast before teeing off in the 18 hole competition, luckily the weather held off on its wet and windy schedule and conditions were perfect. Dominion’s very own Claire Davidson managed to ‘Beat the Pro’ on Hole 8 during the event’s mini challenge set up to raise extra funds for the cause.
The days play was followed by a well deserved three course lunch at the Royal Jersey Club House and concluded with a raffle and auction. The prizes included an iPad 3, a special VIP experience in the soon to open Banjo Brasserie, the hire of a Bentley Continental & Chauffeur for an evening, a signed Rugby shirt & ball from the Jersey First Team, Blue Islands flights, restaurant vouchers and many other generous prizes that had been kindly donated by local individuals and organisations. All proceeds collected from the auction and raffle were donated directly to Jersey Hospice Care. Standard Chartered Bank took home the Trophy, with HSBC coming a close second and C & M Scaffolding third.
Event organisers Sarah Harris and Mandy Le Feuvre are extremely thankful to Dominion for their continued sponsorship which enables the event to raise an incredible amount of money for a well deserved local charity.
Sarah Harris commented: “This event would not be possible without the incredible support Dominion has once again given; the generosity of their contribution is invaluable in securing the ongoing success of the event. In total the day raised £10,000. Jersey Hospice Care is entirely self funded; it costs a staggering amount per day to run so there is always a constant battle to meet rising costs, particularly in the current climate, therefore we are truly humbled by the generosity of all of those who contributed to making this popular event happen”.
Jersey Hospice Care would like to thank Sarah and Mandy for another terrific Golf Day and the following for their continued support and sponsorship: Dominion Fiduciary Services Limited, Royal Jersey Golf Club, Pure Charity Coffee Shop, AEA Design, Baltine PVS Ltd, Blue Islands, Capita Fiduciary Group, Fitness First, Fox International, Frank Dearie, Richard Cadoret, Jersey Rugby Club, Jersey Aero Club, Jersey Pottery, Lorraine Determeyer, Mailmate Print, Randalls, Renzo Martin, Royal Yacht Hotel, Sumas & Trust Insurance.
