Direct from the West End, Dinosaur Zoo is descending on Jersey Opera House for the very first time this February half-term.
The interactive and imaginative children’s show, devised by Australian-based creators Erth, uses ingenious puppetry to bring the awesome prehistoric creatures to life, live on stage.
During the show, the Dinosaur Zoo ‘Keepers’ (Lindsey Chaplin, Tom Caley, Steve Peck and Kaitlyn Rogers) introduce audiences to a range of creatures from cute baby dinos to teeth-gnashing giants. There is even a carnivorous theropod, known as the Australovenator, which is based on the most complete meat-eating dinosaur skeleton found in Australia.
Intrepid spectators, brave enough to get up close and personal with the dinosaurs, are brought onto the stage to assist the ‘Zoo Keeper’ with his/her daily tasks – but be warned – not all of these ravenous reptiles are as tame as they seem! For those who aren’t able to join the dinosaurs on stage, they will have the opportunity to meet them at the official ‘meet and greet’, at the end of each show.
Directed by Scott Wright and designed by Steve Howarth, Dinosaur Zoo roared into the UK last summer and enjoyed a hugely successful season at Regent’s Park Open-Air Theatre, followed by a 22-venue UK tour. The show transferred to the West End for a 7-week Christmas season at the Phoenix Theatre prior to this year’s spring tour.
Fast-becoming a worldwide hit, the hour long family-friendly show has been seen by audiences across the world, from Australia to Los Angeles, New York City to Bahrain, exciting children (and adults!) with its popular mix of entertaining humour, adventurous daring and informative learning.
Dinosaur Zoo is showing at Jersey Opera House with daily performances during half-term from Tuesday 25th to Thursday 27th February. Tickets are £12.50, or £15 if you manage to get the front row ‘danger zone’ seats!
