Delicacies on the Menu at The Atlantic Hotel for the 2013 Jersey Food Festival

To celebrate the 2013 Jersey Food Festival, The Atlantic Hotel is once again joining the island’s top food producers, suppliers and chefs who are all taking part in the annual event that celebrates Jersey’s abundance of local produce and unrivalled dining experiences. The week long festival commences on Saturday 18th May and invites visitors to enjoy ‘foodie adventures’ and to meet local food heroes, along with showcasing the very best of local produce and talent the island has to offer.

Patrick Burke, Owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel, said: “The Food Festival is now in its third year and is becoming a firm favourite on the gastronomic calendar. We are once again proud to play a key part in the festival and to help celebrate and promote the incredible fresh, local produce the island offers.”

For 2013 The Atlantic Hotel has created two special events. The first is a Pasta and Truffle Master Class and lunch taking place on Saturday 18th May. Guests are invited to join Executive Head Chef Mark Jordan for a Master Class in preparing and cooking fresh pasta. Participants will learn about the techniques and skills used in The Atlantic’s top class kitchens to produce an array of fresh pasta shapes which pair so well with ingredients such as the much-revered truffle. This is pasta in its true form, the very antithesis of the product which is purchased in dried form in a packet!

The second event is an Atlantic Producer Tour at the Jersey Ormer Farm. The Producer Tour takes place the following Saturday, 25th May and after meeting at The Atlantic Hotel guests will visit the Jersey Ormer Farm for a unique behind the scenes tour with owner Gary Whipp and his team.

Known as the ‘Truffle of the Sea’ the Jersey ormer is considered a rare delicacy, not only in Jersey but throughout the world. The Jersey Ormer Farm is located at Anne Port, the furthest point north that ormers can grow naturally.

Tickets for both events include a three-course lunch created by Mark Jordan at the Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant. The lunch menu will be in keeping with the Food Festival theme and wines will be specially selected by Head Sommelier Sergio dos Santos.
