Corporate services provider DCG has rounded off its annual charity fundraising drive for 2012 by breaking through the £20,000 milestone in support of Friends of SCBU, a charity that raises funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at the Jersey General Hospital.

The combined efforts of staff, who organised and took part in a range of activities throughout the year, resulted in a confirmed fund raising total of £21,088.

The funds raised will help with purchasing vital equipment for the unit as well as developing a new and much needed parent and baby area at the SCBU premises.

Fundraising activities undertaken by staff were imaginative and varied, ranging from Valentine’s and Halloween cake sales to a Euro 2012 sweepstake, a raffle to win a day off work, and bag packing at Grand Marché, which proved to be particularly successful.

Gemma Harries, Fundraising and Event Coordinator at Friends of SCBU, commented:

“Our thanks go to the staff at DCG for the amazing full year of support. It is very much appreciated and the funds they raised will make a significant difference to the families in Jersey who need to make use of the Special Care Baby Unit.”

Sue Fossey, managing director, corporate and capital market services at DCG, added:

“The fact that staff managed to exceed an ambitious fundraising target for our nominated charity for the second year in a row is absolutely fantastic. Staff fundraising initiatives not only raised vital funds, but also allowed us to spread the message about Friends of SCBU and the unit itself. It’s amazing when talking to the public to learn how many people have a link to SCBU. I’m pleased our efforts can now contribute towards developing a dedicated parent and baby area for these families.”
