On Monday 14th April officers from the Customs & Immigration Service arrested three persons in connection with the importation of a quantity of Mephedrone a New Psychoactive Substance (NPS), which is now a Class B controlled drug. Subsequent house searches recovered a number of ecstasy tablets and small amounts of cocaine and cannabis. Two persons have been charged with various drug offences and a third has been released on bail pending further investigations.

Paul Ecobichon, the Customs and Immigration Assistant Director with responsibility for Border control said:

“The Service is committed to preventing the importation of all controlled drugs, including New Psychoactive Substances, into the Island and will continue to work closely with the States of Jersey Police in this respect.”
