Collas Crill is the new sponsor of Rotary’s around the Island walk (formerly the Itex–Rotary Trust’s Around the Island Walk).

The Channel Islands law firm has signed up to sponsor the 48.1 mile challenge for three years.

What will now be known as the Collas Crill Island Walk, in conjunction with Rotary Club de la Manche, will take place on 21st June 2014.

Collas Crill senior partner Nuno Santos Costa said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Island Walk. Not only is it one of the biggest events in Jersey’s charity calendar, benefitting a range of good causes each year, but it is a fantastic personal challenge for the thousands of people who take part.

“Rotary and Itex have established an amazing community event. The Collas Crill Island Walk, in conjunction with Rotary de la Manche, will continue to be a real community event. We are looking forward to working with Rotary to continue their great work.”

Nuno Dionisio club president of Rotary Club de la Manche, and Paul Owen chairman of the Island Walk Trust said: “We look forward to working with Collas Crill to ensure the tradition of the Island Walk has a long and fruitful future and are delighted to be supported by a local firm that has a long tradition in Jersey.

“Collas Crill and Rotary can build upon the legacy of a walk that brings the Island community together, as well as visitors from abroad. Together, we will ensure this community event continues to support good causes long into the future.”

C5 Alliance Group, who acquired Itex Holdings in 2013, will continue to have involvement in the Collas Crill Island Walk. Mark Loane, Chief Executive Officer of the C5 Alliance Group, said the business wanted to facilitate and continue the positive efforts already established by the annual charity walk.

“We will be working towards digitally enabling the walk going forward, bringing new features that modernise the registration, tracking and monitoring process. We look forward to working with the new Collas Crill Island Walk team to help raise as much money as possible for so many worthy causes in the island.”

The Island Walk is one of the largest fund raising events in Jersey. Now in its 23rd year, the walk has raised over £1,866,195 for local charities and a massive 18,229 walkers have taken part in the event since 1991.

The Island Walk starts at 3am from the Elizabeth Terminal at the Harbour, and hugs the entire coastline of Jersey – a total of 48.1 miles.

The Island Walk regularly raises more than £100,000 for Jersey charities, which have included Jersey Hospice, Age Concern, RNLI, GOSH, the Women’s Refuge and Headway, as well as many smaller distributions benefitting a wide range of local organisations. To date, the Island Walk has supported 124 individual local charities.
