The top prize for the Channel Islands’ Christmas Lottery has already risen to £390,000 just three weeks after tickets went on sale.

Initial ticket sales have been strong with a higher number of lottery tickets sold compared with the same time last year. The first prize will continue to rise as more tickets are sold. Lottery organisers in Jersey are encouraging Islanders to continue to support local charities and are promoting the new Lottery campaign message ‘have fun, win big, do good’. By getting behind the Christmas Lottery and encouraging people to buy more tickets they hope to achieve a record prize fund this year.

Last month, a cheque for £419,572 – the Jersey proceeds of the 2011 Christmas Lottery and year-round scratch cards – was presented to the Association of Jersey Charities, to be distributed amongst charities across the Island.

Tickets for the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery cost £1 and are available from retailers across the Island. In addition to the rising first prize, Islanders can also win a £50,000 second prize, a £25,000 third prize and forty five £500 prizes, as well as instant cash prizes of up to £5,000. The winning numbers will be announced on 20th December 2012.
