The jackpot for the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery has risen to £600,000 two weeks before the winning numbers are announced.
Tickets for this year’s Christmas Lottery have been flying off the shelves since they went on sale in October. The first prize, which now stands at £600,000, has risen by £95,000 since last Thursday and will continue to rise in the run up to the draw in line with the number of tickets sold.
It is not just one lucky winner who will benefit from this year’s Christmas Lottery. Charities across the Island rely on grants made possible as a result of proceeds from the Lottery. This year Lottery organisers have been encouraging Islanders to get behind the Lottery and support these local charities with the message, ‘have fun, win big, do good’. Last year’s Channel Islands Christmas Lottery saw the highest ever first prize of £751,500 and this year’s total could rise even higher.
Tickets for the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery cost £1 and are available from retailers across the Island. To help people find their nearest Lottery retailer, keep up to date with the rising first prize and find out more about the charities that benefit from the Lottery, Lottery organisers in Jersey have, this year, developed a Channel Islands Lottery in Jersey Facebook page.
In addition to the rising first prize, Islanders can also win a £50,000 second prize, a £25,000 third prize and forty five £500 prizes, as well as instant cash prizes of up to £5,000. The winning numbers will be announced on 20th December 2012.
