Jersey News, 14 December 2009 – Shoppers hoping for an angel to magically appear and help them carry their Christmas shopping this year have had their wish granted.
Although this is the third year that St Helier has welcomed Christmas angels to help shoppers, it’s the first time shoppers have been able to book them to appear at a certain time and place.
Angels can be booked by calling or texting the scheme’s supervisor, ‘archangel’ John, telephone: 07700 333 897. All the angels have been given pre-programmed SIM cards from Sure which allows them to call each other and the archangel to find out where they are needed next. The angels, who can help carry bags, provide shopping information and directions and keep shoppers dry, will also be flying around St Helier to help those in need.
“The angels have been busier than ever this year and we wanted to ensure that they were always available. The scheme has progressed through the years and has become ever more popular and now thanks to the book an angel scheme, shoppers can have their very own angel just a call or text away. I am delighted with Sure’s support and donation of the SIMs which has ensured the continued success of the angels,” said St Helier Town Manager Richard McKenzie.
