Bellozanne Chimney demolished

| July 4, 2014 | 0 Comments

Raffertys, the contractor working on behalf of Transport and Technical Services has now finished the demolition of the old incinerator chimney at Bellozanne.

The Bellozanne incinerator and chimney was originally retained to be ready in case there were teething problems with the new EfW when it first started operation.  However, it was never needed and the incinerator and chimney were not used again after it ceased operations at Christmas 2010.

Demolition of the chimney started in March this year. Raffertys started by taking out all of the inside floors, then went on to take down the outside section by section from the top.

There is still some demolition work to be done on the old incinerator building but this should be completed in the next few weeks.
