RBS International ‘End to End Challenge’ cyclist Alan Gelling gets his legs waxed by Marika Zvirisna in De Gruchy’s shop window

Eight bankers from RBS International underwent a grueling waxing session in the shop window of De Gruchy in aid of the local RNLI.

With a target of raising £65,000, the bankers will be taking part in a non-stop charity cycle in April 2013 from John O’Groats to Lands End.  Staff from RBS International pledged money to wax their colleagues’ leg hair (and chest hair in one case!) in support of the event entitled the End-to-End Cycle Challenge that will see the team cover the length of the UK in approximately 60 hours.  The challenge team received additional donations from customers passing through the store on Friday lunchtime observing the team’s good-spirited courage.

RBS International employee Spencer Carne, one of the staff organising the event, commented:

“Thanks to the team here at De Gruchy Hair & Beauty, who have kindly given their time and expertise free of charge. Hopefully our now aerodynamically smooth legs will help us all go that little bit faster!! The generosity of the staff and customers in support of this good cause has been astounding and worth the hour of pain endured by the team…. although our pride my take some time to recover.”

John Marquis, store director at De Gruchy, added:

“The De Gruchy Hair & Beauty team have struggled to keep a straight face today hearing the gents’ screams of pain.  We were delighted to be able to support the brave efforts of the End to End Challenge team in support of such a worthy charity.”
