Atlantic Hotel’s Producer Tours and Master Classes go on the Menu for the Jersey Food Festival 2012
A series of mouth-watering culinary Master Classes and fascinating Producer Tours with Executive Head Chef Mark Jordan are on The Atlantic Hotel’s menu for the Jersey Food Festival 2012 next month.
The hotel is once again joining top food producers, suppliers and chefs to take part in the annual festival, which celebrates the Island’s unrivalled local food offering and takes place from 19th to 27th May. The festival aims to highlight the skill and tradition behind Jersey’s delicious local produce, with an emphasis this year on Jersey Royal potatoes, dairy produce and shellfish.
Patrick Burke, Owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel, said: “The Food Festival is only in its second year but we are proud to play a key part in it and help celebrate the incredible fresh, local produce that we are so lucky to be able to source for The Atlantic Hotel and our Michelin-starred restaurant, Ocean. We hope the Producer Tours and Master Classes with Mark Jordan will give Islanders a fascinating insight into Jersey produce and how to make the most of it.”
Three very special ‘Atlantic Producer Tours’ will take islanders behind the scenes of some of Mark’s hand-picked suppliers. The first takes place on Saturday 19th May, when festival goers will be whisked away to St Ouen to meet farmer Stephen Labey and his team at Five Roads Farm to find out why the famous Jersey Royals are so special.
The second tour on Tuesday 22nd May will again take place in St Ouen, this time at Faulkner Fisheries at L’Etacq, where the party will meet Sean Faulkner and his team to learn about Jersey’s fantastic array of seafood. The final tour is on Wednesday 23rd May at Manor Farm, St Peter, home of Classic Herd. After meeting farmer Darren Quenault, they will see behind the scenes at the dairy farm and learn more about what makes the Jersey cow and its produce world-renowned.
Guests on all three tours will be accompanied by Mark Jordan and will enjoy a three course lunch afterwards at the Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant. The lunch menu will be in keeping with the Food Festival and wines will be specially selected by Head Sommelier Sergio dos Santos. A signed copy of Mark’s cookery book Ocean Voyage will also be included.
To further whet the appetites of festival goers, The Atlantic Hotel is holding two exciting Master Classes with Mark, one focusing on shellfish and the other on chocolate. For the former, participants will join Mark and Head Chef Matthew Peryer on Thursday 24th May to learn how to prepare and cook Jersey shellfish, an abundant local resource. At the Chocolate Master Class the following day (25th), they can learn how to get the best from the world’s greatest ingredient and wow their dinner guests with their new-found knowledge gleaned from Mark and Head Pastry Chef Jarek Nowakowski.
The Shellfish Master Class includes a three course lunch at Ocean Restaurant and the Chocolate Master Class is followed by afternoon tea and pink Champagne from Ruinart at The Atlantic Hotel. As with the Producer Tours, all participants will receive a signed copy of Ocean Voyage.
The Atlantic Hotel Producer Tours and Master Classes cost £95 per person. For more information and to book, please contact Anna Robins on 01534 744101 or email anna@theatlantichotel.com
