Asset Risk Consultants (ARC) support Jersey International Business School degree students with Investment Business studies
Students currently studying on the BSc (Hons) International Financial Services degree at the Jersey International Business School (JIBS) are coming to the end of their first year and are working towards completion of a number of modules including investment.
To support students with their investment module, Lee Morris, an associate lecturer on the degree, has arranged for Asset Risk Consultants (ARC) Jersey to help students by coming into the school to deliver a seminar. This seminar will provide detailed coverage of the interactions between the varieties of participants in the investment business, providing them the opportunity to apply their academic studies to real life business situations.
Stephen McMahon, Managing Director of Asset Risk Consultants’ (ARC) Jersey office will be providing students with a detailed overview of the investment industry in the Channel Islands, explaining the firm’s role within this sector and providing insights into how various entities, such as charities, trusts, private clients and investment managers interact.
Lee Morris of Jersey International Business School told us: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students to obtain a practical insight into the workings of a really interesting business operating internationally out of the Channel Islands. Their discussions with Stephen McMahon, Managing Director of Asset Risk Consultants’ (ARC) Jersey allowed them to consider the practical implications of the theories they have been learning over the last year. Such an experience is invaluable, and allowing them to experience active, applied learning beyond the pages of a text book will stand them in good stead when they enter the workplace. Having Stephen and other high calibre professionals engage with our students not only provides them with an excellent learning experience that differentiates them from their peers at other universities, it allows them to commence building a network of contacts while still studying, which is invaluable to their future career prospects.”
Stephen McMahon of ARC Jersey said: “It is important to give students the opportunity to explore the full investment landscape before they decide where to make their entry into the industry. As the job market becomes ever more competitive and specialised, it is even more important that graduates are able to make informed decisions about their career path and understand which market segment they should target. I wish I had been better prepared, as these students will be, when I was looking at making a start in the industry.”
