This year’s Jersey Cheshire Home Golf Day – the Island’s longest-running and largest charity golf event – raised more than £15,000 for Jersey Cheshire Home.
Now in its 15th year, the event, which is sponsored by Airtel-Vodafone, involved 26 corporate teams playing on 16 May at La Moye Golf Course.
David Lord, General Manager of Jersey Cheshire Home, said: ‘It costs £5,000 per day to run the home, so the golf day is not only great fun but also of direct benefit to the residents. Airtel-Vodafone once again gave fantastic support, and I am very grateful to everyone who took part.”
The people who live at Jersey Cheshire Home are severely handicapped, and the charity enabled them to have a home with nursing care, and a life, but it relied on donations, Mr Lord said.
The teams played a round of four-ball ‘stableford’ at La Moye before lunch for 120 guests. For the second year running, Kleinwort Benson won; NatWest Premium came second while, Ashburton Investments were third. HSBC Bank was fourth.
Peter Shirreffs, the event’s organiser, a Jersey Cheshire Home Foundation Committee Member, and Airtel-Vodafone Director, said: ‘It was a fantastic day, and Airtel-Vodafone are delighted to again be sponsoring such a great event. As an international business it is important to show that we are truly part of the community, and to give something back.”
